CONGRATULATIONS TO MRG'S OWN LARS AYERS ON WINNING THE FWT SNOWBIRD COMPETITION!
A big high pressure overhead today resulted in fabulous sunny skies and temps rebounding into the 20's. Over the past few nights the cats have been tacking down snow all over the hill. The other night they even crawled up the face of the Catamount Bowl leaving behind perfect corduroy for skiers. Cat Bowl groomed - what a treat for MRG skiers! One by one the groomed trail count has been piling up this week and because of the limited midweek skier traffic they still appear freshly groomed. It might not be super-fresh corduroy but whether you ski Quacky, Porcupine or Bunny it sure will feel like it is freshly groomed today. Our hat goes off to the guys for the extraordinary work they've done with the surface conditions, the compliments from our skiers just keep pouring in. On the steep terrain where the cats typically don't/can't venture, the snow surface is a chalky packed powder nicely enhanced by an inch of new snow yesterday. The skiing is great in spots and a tad firm in others. It is technical skiing for sure but remarkably decent. There are even some fresh pockets to be found in the secret glades, especially on the upper third of the hill, if you're willing to venture around a bit. On Friday we plan to run 4 of our 5 lifts from 9 AM until 4 PM with nearly 100% of our legendary terrain wide open.
