The weather of late has us tantalizingly close to being able to get the 2014 ski season going! We were hoping to open up this weekend but alas it is not meant to be - rest assured that we will absolutely open up the mountain just as soon as we possibly can. Over the last few days some pretty steady snow squalls left us with 4-7" of fluffy "Champlain Powder". While it certainly is looking better we really need a bit more snow (and the right kind) for us to be able to crank things up The issue at this point is that the limited base that we do have is of a "dust on crust" nature. Snow making operations have resumed and the boys are laying it down as best they can in the high traffic-low elevation areas and on the Practice Slope. (If you are up on the hill please stay clear of the snow making hoses and electric lines - it can be dangerous!) . It looks like there is a chance for some more snow over the next couple of days which might just do the trick and we should have some great snow-making temps to boot. We're certainly chomping at the bit to get the ski season cranked up here on General Stark Mountain but we really need some more help from Mother Nature. Be sure to keep an eye on the latest from the Single Chair Weather Blog and to the latest snow report for the latest scoop!
This weekend the Ticket Office and the General store will be open for holiday shopping from 10 AM to 4 PM and Gen. Stark's Pub will be open for lunch and cocktails. The Rental/Repair Shop will be also open from 10 AM to 2 PM for boot fitting, tunes and repair work.
