The proverbial snow globe has been shaken once again resulting in another 4-8" of fluff overnight. The weather of late has us tantalizingly close to being able to get the 2014 ski season underway! We were hoping to open up this weekend but alas it is not meant to be, at least for now. Much will depend upon what happens with the expected storm. The decision will depend upon timing, the type of snow we receive and the amount of wind accompanying this weather event. Our goal is to open up the mountain just as soon as we possibly can, it may be as soon as Sunday, perhaps Monday or if it doesn't pan out not at all. As the old Vermont saying goes; "Hard tellin' not knowin". Rest assured we will keep you posted! Over the last few days some pretty steady snow squalls left us with 8-12" of fluffy "Champlain Powder". While it certainly is looking good we really need a bit more snow (and the right kind) for us to be able to crank things up The issue at this point is that the limited base that we do have is of a "dust on crust" nature. This is coupled with the fact that there are a few key windblown spots with little cover especially on the upper mountain. Snow making operations are ongoing and the boys are laying it down as best they can. Please note that if you are up on the hill please stay clear of the snow making hoses, electric lines and groomers. Give the guys some room as it can be dangerous up there!. Be sure to keep an eye on the latest from the Single Chair Weather Blog and to the latest snow report for the latest scoop!
