Mad River Glen looks forward to helping you with your private event needs. We offer an affordable solution for your banquet or function with a wide range of possibilities to suit you. We can accommodate parties of all different sizes and tastes. We will work with you and your budget to create the event you envision and we're happy to accommodate any special requests to the best of our ability. Decorating is encouraged, however, prior to the event the rental party should arrange with management early access to the site, as there may be some limitations. The ample space in front of the Basebox is perfect for a tent, the base area and lodge offer a generous amount of room for your grand affair, and there is plenty of parking and on site restrooms, so picking a site couldn't be any easier! The General Stark's Pub is perfect for an event on a smaller scale - with room for musical entertainment, a spacious deck and a fireplace area, it is a cozy spot for entertaining. The 3rd floor of the Basebox affords a unique opportunity as well, with a bar, a deck and abundant seating. In addition to our site space, Mad River Glen has a variety of food and beverage choices available to you.
Mad River Glen offers in-house catering to take care of your food needs. Please review our House Catering Menus to see the fare we offer. If you prefer, we'd be happy to welcome your favorite food enthusiast to cater your event, please refer to the Outside Caterer Guidelines. Please be aware that outside caterers must bring their own cooking utensils and tools and that a Kitchen Fee will be assessed. This fee ensures use of the facilities such as the dish room and kitchen on the day of event. For potluck events no Kitchen Fee will be assessed if the kitchen or amenities are not to be utilized. All service utensils and decorations are the responsibility of the rental party for all such events. When using outside caterers or hosting potluck events all facilities must be returned to the condition of which they were rented or a Cleaning Fee will be assessed.
Our full-service liquor license permits year-round service and consumption of alcohol in our base lodge and on the decks, and, when desired, can be extended to include the surrounding grounds with advance notice. Please refer to our Fee Schedule for our Bar Service Guidelines as well as applicable Staff Fees. Inquire about our Wine and Beer Lists for selections available to special order for your party, if you do not see what you're looking for please ask, we can accommodate most requests. Special orders will require 14 days' notice.

How much does it cost to rent Mad River Glen?
To rent out Mad River Glen is a flat rate of $200 per hour.
What is our occupancy?
The Basebox can hold 300 but this number varies a bit depending on what type of function you are having and if there is a band, buffet tables, tent, etc. General Stark’s Pub can hold 150 for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and 90 for a plated dinner.
Do you cater?
Yes, we have trained chefs who can work with you on a variety of options. Below are some sample menus and we can also order your favorite Vermont brew and wine upon request. We can accommodate your dinning needs from breakfast to brunch, lunch to dinner and appetizers in-between. Menus are custom made for the event and can vary from a casual tasty BBQ buffet, a Station Party, a Light Lunch or a Continental Breakfast.
May we bring our own liquor?
No, our license does not allow patrons to bring in their own liquor. However, General Stark’s bar is a full bar with specialty wines and local micro-brews, including Lawson’s Finest by our own Sean Lawson! We can also order your favorite wine upon request.
Do you work with outside caterers?
Yes, you may bring in an outside caterer. There is a kitchen fee of $250 and a $250 Cleaning Fee will be assessed if the kitchen space used is not left in the condition in which it was rented.
May we have a Potluck?
Yes, again a kitchen fee of $250 will apply.
