Single Chair Campaign Reaches Goal |
A lot of people said it couldn’t be done, but the Mad River Glen Cooperative smashed its goal by raising over $1.65 million in donations to fund the historic restoration of the mountain’s iconic Single Chair. The fundraising campaign was made possible by unique partnerships with two non-profit groups, the Stark Mountain Foundation and Preservation Trust of Vermont. This collaboration allowed Mad River Glen to raise tax-deductible charitable dollars to finance the project. . more |

MRG Goes Carbon Neutral - "Ski Green If You Can" |
Mad River Glen, with the help of it’s non-profit partner, The Stark Mountain Foundation, has implemented the “Ski Green If You Can” carbon offset program for the 2008 ski season. It involves Mad River Glen purchasing carbon offsets to render the ski areas, already minimal, operations carbon neutral. These offsets will be earmarked fund methane digester projects on dairy farms right here in Vermont. These projects directly reduce green house gas emissions in a meaningful way and would not have been possible without these carbon offset purchases.more |
Midweek Preschool Program Gets Kids to Say "I Can" |
The Mad River Glen Ski School will once again be offering the popular Midweek Pre-school program this season. It is designed to offer families with children ages 4, 5, and 6 a fun, affordable ski experience. Skier to teacher ratios are kept low to promote a quality on-snow experience. The dedication ceremonies for the New Single Chair will take place on Satruday December 15. We'll be re-creating the original opening day in 1948. It will feature Governor Jim Douglas, Miss VT 1948, Jean Peatman, Miss VT 2007 and a very special apperance by Gen. Stark himself is also rumored. |

The 9th Annual Mad River Glen Vertical Challenge will take place Friday, February 15. The grueling event challenges competitors to ski as many runs as they can in one day, on Mad River’s famous Single Chair. To make things even tougher, the competitors are required to ski directly under the chair, a route that cascades down Chute and Lift Line, two of Mad River Glen’s most difficult trails. more |
