Jim komarmi , Head Coach and Program Director

The Mad River Glen Ski Club is under the tutelage of our new Race Director, Jim Komarmi. Jim comes to us from Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) where he was the Director of Junior Development for the past 6 years, and was their J4 Alpine Coach prior to that. Jim hails from the Buffalo, NY area and learned to ski at Kissing Bridge. Jim has a B.S. degree in International Business from SUNY Plattsburgh and is currently working on his MBA at the University of Vermont. Welcome to Mad River Glen Jim!

Rick Ruback - J5/6 Coach

Rick Ruback is a Club Level certified race coach. This will be his 11th season at Mad River Glen. Prior to joining Mad River Glen Ski Club, he was a coach and program director for the Bolton Valley Race Club.. When he is not coaching, Rick is the William Prescott Smith Professor of Corporate Finance at the Harvard Business School.

Eric Palola - J3

Eric Palola is a USSA certified coach who graduated from the Stratton Mtn ski academy and went on to race for two junior national teams, on the Nor-Am circuit, for the Univ of Colorado and several professional tours. When he's not coaching, he directs the northeast regional office of the National Wildlife Federation. His family are all enthusiastic Mad River skiers. This will be Eric's 9th year coaching at MRG.

Chris Ingvoldstad - J5/6

Chris started coaching at Mad River 12 years of racing for the Smugglers' Notch Ski Club. He has also coached college race camps at Smugglers'. Chris graduated from, University of Vermont where he majored in Economics.  Chris has coached at Mad River for the past 3 years. .

Kathy Haskell - J5/6

Kathy coached the J5/6’s at Mad River in 2004 and then again in 2006. Prior to coaching at Mad River Kathy coached at Sugarbush and Burke Mountain Academy.  She graduated from Burke in 1990, spent one year after high school pursuing the ski dream and went on to University of Colorado, Boulder where she gained a real appreciation for free skiing. Outside of coaching, Kathy is a certified Elementary teacher, a SPIN instructor and a mother of three children.
